GRANTS, N.M. – Early voting is open across Cibola County for the statewide primary election on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
Voters have multiple convenient options to cast their ballots before Election Day across Cibola County, including in-person early voting at several locations and absentee ballots by mail or drop-off.
The June election is called the “Primary Election” where candidates in the Democrat and Republican fields campaign against each other and are decided upon. The victors of this election typically go on to to face off in the November “General Election”.
Early Voting In-Person Options
Early voting began on May 5, 2026, at the Cibola County Clerk’s Office and continues through Saturday, May 30, 2026 (the Saturday before Election Day). Expanded early voting sites opened on May 16 in many locations for greater convenience. Cibola County Early Voting Locations and Hours (all 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.):
• Cibola County Clerk’s Office – Early voting available starting May 5, 2026 (on going; contact office for exact hours).
• Grants Recreation Center – May 16 through May 30, 2026; open Tuesday through Saturday.
• Acoma Gymnasium – May 19–21 and May 26–30, 2026.
• Laguna Tribal Building – May 21– 22, 2026.
• Ramah Chapter House – May 16, 19, and 20, 2026. When voting in person, completed ballots are placed directly into the vote-counting machine, providing immediate confirmation that your vote has been counted.

Cibola Absentee Ballots
Absentee ballots, sometimes called “mail-in”, are available with no excuse required. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Voters may also sign up for the Permanent Absentee List to automatically receive a mail-in ballot for every statewide election (eligibility restrictions apply; out-ofstate addresses are not permitted). Eligible voters can opt in during the request process or via the paper voter registration form and may request removal at any time.
Mail the absentee ballot back as early as possible (recommended for timely delivery), voters may drop it off at the County Clerk’s Office or any Election Day polling location by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. Two permanent ballot drop boxes are available in Cibola County during the primary: 700 E. Roosevelt Ave. and 600 W. Santa Fe Ave.
If you receive your absentee ballot but prefer not to mail it, you may still vote in person at any early voting site or on Election Day. You will need to sign an affidavit canceling the mailed ballot.
