GRANTS, N.M. — Denise and Rob Hanson will lead this year’s Fourth of July Parade as Grand Marshals, an honor organizers say reflects their service to Grants and their continued work to strengthen the community.

The parade, co-hosted by Grants MainStreet Project Inc. and Knights of Columbus St. Teresa of Avila Council No. 3683, begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 4. Lineup starts at 7 a.m. The route begins at Wayne Avenue, travels east on Santa Fe Avenue, turns left on First Street and finishes at the Grants Public Library.

Grants MainStreet Project Inc. selected the Hansons for the honor.

“We chose Denise and Rob because of everything they’ve done not just for MainStreet but for our whole community,” said Chase Taylor, executive director of Grants MainStreet Project Inc. “She’s only been here a few years but Denise has been able to move mountains. She is such a huge asset to our community.”

Taylor said Denise Hanson had no role in the decision. Although she previously served as executive director of Grants Main-Street, she has since left the board and is now executive director of the Cibola Communities Economic Development Foundation. Taylor said the MainStreet board determined she and Rob Hanson were the best choice for this year’s parade.

City Manager Andrew Valencia also praised the selection, saying the City of Grants is proud to recognize Denise and Rob Hanson as this year’s Grand Marshals.

“Together they’ve been outstanding advocates for our community, dedicating countless hours to making Grants a better place to live, work and visit,” Valencia said.

Valencia said Denise Hanson has been an important partner to the city through her work as the city’s marketing manager and through her previous leadership at Grants Main-Street. He said her efforts have helped promote Grants, support local businesses and organize events that bring residents and visitors together.

Valencia also recognized Rob Hanson for his volunteer work and support of community events and initiatives.

“Together they have consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to civic pride, tourism and the continued growth and success of Grants,” Valencia said. “Their dedication, leadership and countless contributions have left a lasting impact on our community.”
