LUNA, N.M. – New Mexico Department of Transportation workers based in Milan have been working alongside Cutler Repaving crews to improve a stretch of US 180 east of Luna in Catron County.
Crews from NMDOT District Six’s Milan Project Office are overseeing work on a 1.5-inch asphalt overlay designed to improve the roadway surface and extend the life of the highway.

The project was scheduled to continue through the end of August. Motorists traveling through the area should remain alert for any workers, equipment or traffic controls that may still be present as the project wraps up.
US 180 serves as an important north-south route through western New Mexico, connecting communities in Catron County with the Gallup area to the north and Silver City region to the south.
NMDOT is asking drivers to slow down and use caution whenever crews and equipment are present in the work zone.
