Dear Editor;
Has this newspaper interviewed he local politicians and leaders about the their part in the recent events and the part that people like Rep. Yvette Herrell and Couy Griffin. Both been in Cibola County to rally votes in one case and both here to further the divisive ideals that lead to an attempted coup at the nation’s Capitol this week. I’ve noticed that for the most part these local folks have been quiet on social media.
Some questions to ask:
Did Trump incite the attempted coup?
Were they protesters or domestic terrorists?
Will they support Rep. Yvette Herrell or Couy Griffin in the future?
Do they think this happened because some people are above the law?
Do they still support only enforcing the laws they think are fair, good, right?
Are they going to look at their own language and how it may be seen as divisive?
These are people and issues that are in and affecting our county. We paid to have law enforcement to protect these folks when they came to town. Will the
2nd amendment rally that Griffin speaks of be on our doorstep “...if we do it’s going to be a sad day because there’s going to be blood running out of that building,” his words?
I would like to hear what city, county and state officials, elected or appointed have to say, out in the open. It might help people in the county make a better decision for those that are elected.
I hope to see what they have to say in your paper. I also hope the responses are thoughtful and more than I’m against violence and my thoughts and prayers are with them.
Respectfully,
Constance Dixon,
