March 1

Election Day

The residents of The City of Grants and The Village of Milan will have the opportunity to select a new government on March 1. Polls open in both communities at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m., if you are in line before 7 p.m. but don’t get in the voter booth before closure, stay in line and you will be allowed to vote according to federal election law. Residents of both communities will be electing a new mayor and two new members of the council/board. Grants residents can vote at Grants City Hall, 600 W. Santa Fe Avenue | Residents of Milan can vote at Village Hall, 623 Uranium Avenue.

March 5

Chamber Banquet and community dance

The Grants/Cibola County Chamber of Commerce has moved their annual Chamber Banquet to Saturday, March 5. The Chamber is excited to see the community come out in support of local businesses on March 5. Tickets can be purchased at 100 Iron Avenue. Rotary Bowl-A-Thon 9 a.m. at Thunderbird Lanes, 300 Jefferson Avenue in Grants, N.M., all proceeds will benefit the Grants-Milan Rotary Club’s backpack program which helps feed underprivileged student in the Grants-Cibola County School district by filling their backpacks with non-perishable food. NWNMSWA accepts corrugated cardboard

The Northwest New Mexico Solid Waste Authority accepts only corrugated cardboard for recycling. Locations include Smith’s grocery, Roosevelt Avenue, Grants; John Brooks Supermarket, Highway 66, Milan; and Milan Transfer Station, 2305 W. Highway 66, Milan.
