GRANTS, N.M. – The City of Grants is home to the two largest marijuana dispensaries in Cibola County. There are several small marijuana dispensaries across Cibola County; altogether, the new economic venture for New Mexico is paying off.
Residents of Cibola are purchasing and consuming marijuana with a decent amount of cash flowing through the City of Grants.
New Mexicans legally purchased $37,736,905.52 of marijuana in June alone. Close to a whopping $38 million of marijuana sales. In just medical marijuana sales, New Mexicans bought $16,525,897.79 worth of marijuana. In just recreational-use sales, New Mexicans purchased $21,201,007.71 worth of marijuana.
In Grants alone, these numbers from the state do not include totals from the whole county, residents purchased a combined total of $440,378.65 worth of marijuana.
In medical marijuana purchases, Cibola spent $169,468.61. In recreation marijuana purchases, Cibola spent $160,910.04.
Medical marijuana sales beat recreation sales by $8,558.57 in Grants.
The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department received 124 Cannabis Excise Tax Returns, and reported a total of $2,518,607 in taxes due for the June reporting period. The Cannabis Control Division released these statistics at the beginning of July.
“The New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department, which houses the Cannabis Control Division, regulates more than 500,000 individuals and businesses in 35 industries, professions, and trades across the state. Our goal is to assure that New Mexicans receive quality services from qualified individuals and businesses while also ensuring a fair and prompt administrative process. Our priority is your protection,” NMRLD said in a statement.
