February 11 Free Movie – “Lady Sings the Blues”
At age 44, singer-composer Billie Holiday, was arrested on her deathbed on narcotics charges! At 18, she had made her first recording with band leader, Benny Goodman. She’s remembered in the movie, “Lady Sings the Blues”, to be shown Saturday, February 11 at 2 p.m. in the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. Her music lives on and on.

March 11 Free Movie – “Selena” Who am I? Born in Lake Jackson, TX. At 10 I was lead Singer in my family’s band. I was referred to as the Mexican Madonna. S. Quintanilla lived only 23 years but had a huge impact on Latin music! Her life is depicted in the ’97 film, “Selena” to be shown Saturday, March 11 at 2 p.m. in the Double Six Art Gallery at 1001 W. Late actor, John Wayne, often touted “The Quiet Man”, his favorite movie. As the star, he worked with lovely Maureen O’Hara. They went on to work with each other many times.
