Michael Charles Niell
Michael Charles Niell was born on January 14, 1948, in Twin Falls, ID, to Gene Albert and Joyce Onida Niell. He grew up in Albuquerque, NM. During his senior year of High School (65), he joined the Navy and served during the Viet-Nam war. He married Leola Austin in 1969. They had a son, Scott. He married Sheila Clark in 1997.
He is survived by his wife: Sheila; his son: Scott and grandson Nathaniel. Also surviving are his sister: Sherry Niell; nieces: Tanya Hickman and Kelly Ottersberg; and nephews: Jesse Clark (Kay), Christopher Lyon, Robert Clark and Patrick Montana.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Jeanne Niell Montana. After the Navy, Mike started driving trucks out of Albuquerque. In 1978 he went to work as a Teamster for Roadway Express. He worked out of Albuquerque (78-94) and Dallas, TX (94-03). He retired in 2003 after 25 years. He and Sheila moved to Grants in 2013 where he enjoyed hobbies of working on old cars and motorcycles. Mike was proud of his being sober since July 2003.
He will be greatly missed by loved ones and friends. Rosary will take place at San Rafael Church at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Porter Cemetery.
