Cibola Art Council Announces New Vice President Merla Olguin is an artist in the preparation and presentation of food. And, after serving as the Cibola Art Council’s Vice President, she welcomes Mr. Joan Martinez as the newest officer. Mr. Martinez likes to sketch and create recycled art from jewelry and fabric.
Cibola Art Council Announces New Board Members Joan Sheski Gilbert Waconda Stanley Boynton and Nathan Franklin “Artistic expression is a basic right of each person, whether trained or not,” according to Joan Sheski, new member of the Cibola Arts Council governing board. Artist Sheski works with watercolors and her work is exhibited at the Double Six Art Gallery. Laguna artist, Gilbert Waconda, is also new on the CAC board. He’s been associated with the gallery for years. His mediums are silver, clay and one of our array of large basket designs, displays his painting talent. Thank you both for supporting the arts!
Mr. Stanley Boynton is an ecotourism consultant who’s served in the Peace Corps. He speaks French and Spanish as well as English. Mr. Boynton enjoys and supports the many arts. Mr. Nathan Franklin came to Grants about a year ago from Colorado Springs. He attended graduate school in New York City and is a guitarist with 30 years of playing experience. Welcome to the Cibola Art Council and thank you for supporting the arts!

July Music Lessons Friday’s in July
The young and young-atheart, who like music, will meet every Friday in July at 4 p.m. in the Double Six Art Gallery to learn from composer/conductor Leonard Bernstein. He will teach lessons on DVDs and be backed up by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. If you’re curious and enjoy learning, gather at the gallery on Route 66/1001 West Santa Fe Ave. Music is fun!
