Presentation on Fluorspar Mining
Our program this coming Saturday, October 19 is very special to many citizens of Grants. Nestor Griego, lifetime resident of Grants, is presenting the history of Fluorspar mining in the Zuni Mountains. Fluorspar was important during World War II for strengthening steel. Nestor's family and several other still existing families in Grants lived in a small community just off Highway 53 South. The program will be at the Cibola County History Museum, 525 West High St., starting at 2 PM. No admission fee. Refreshments and a chance to see our new exhibits. The museum is open regularly on Saturdays from 10 AM til 2PM. Everyone welcome.
