Last weekend, the Cibola Citizen staff attended the 114th Annual New Mexico Press Association Convention. Last year, the Cibola Citizen took home two awards, but this year they took home four. The Cibola Citizen Staff also attended multiple sessions and panels that covered many different topics which include AI, Mental Health, and Advertising.
The Cibola Citizen won second place in the Sunshine award with 'Merging the Police and Grants Police Chief to Resign,' written by Diego Lopez. They won first place in Environmental or Agricultural Writing with 'Drought Monitor - Oct. Update,' written by Diego Lopez. They won first place in Best News Coverage with their work in August 2021 and April 2022. Lastly, they won second place in Obituary News with 'Community Leader, Citizen Writer Passes,' also written by Diego Lopez.
