Mary Lou Michael Schimke went home to our Lord November 11, 2023 after enduring Parkinson’s and dementia at her home in Albuquerque NM. Mary Lou was born near her home in Philip, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Emma Michael; sister Bea Williams and brother Gene Michael. She is survived by her husband Charles “Chuck” Schimke, sons Chad and Craig Schimke, daughter Shelli Schimke; brother Anderson Michael and sister Delores Ebberts; sister- in-law’s Janelle Michael and Sheryl Michael; nieces, nephews and extended family; honorary family Mike, Melissa, Kyler, Mikaela, and Kamden Glade.
Before retiring as a school counselor in Grants NM, she worked as a classroom teacher in elementary and mid-school education. Mary Lou was a graduate of Philip SD high school; Northern State University SD and received two MA’s from Western NMU. Mary Lou was a people person who very much enjoyed ballroom dancing, various travels and visiting with family and friends.
Mary Lou was a wonderful wife and mother to her children. She had an engaging personality and sunny disposition. She will be greatly missed but safe in the hands of Jesus.
