The Grants High School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams have been busy as they are passing the midway point of their seasons.
Currently the GHS boys’ soccer team is 3-7, 0-2 after a 2-0 defeat of non-district Tierra Encantada (5-2, 0-0) last week. Fabian Pena and Kulynn Spencer scored this game. Next for the Pirate boys will be district opponent Highland High School (56-1, 1-0) on Oct. 1 on the road followed by Belen High School (4-8-1,0-2) at home on the road on October 3. The Lady Pirate soccer team is currently 3-8, 0-2 after a 2-1 defeat of nondistrict Shiprock High School on September 28. Their next game will also be against Highland High School (6-6,0-1) on Oct. 1 on the road followed by a home game against district rival the Belen Eagles (93, 1-1) on October 3.
