This spinechilling event is presented by the New Mexico Humanities Council and will be held at the Cibola County History Museum on October 19 at 2 PM.

La Llorona, the infamous wailing ghost of Spanish folklore, is known throughout New Mexico and beyond for her eerie cries as she searches for her lost children. Pacheco, a celebrated Chautauqua performer, has portrayed this tragic figure for over two decades. Her unique performance blends storytelling with rich elements of Spanish Colonial history, music, and dance, creating an immersive experience for all ages.

Audience members will have the opportunity to engage directly with the story, as Pacheco will invite volunteers to participate in her rendition of La Llorona’s tale. Following the performance, Pacheco will step out of character to answer questions and explore the deeper meaning behind this centuries-old legend.

In addition to the performance, the event promises a festive atmosphere with refreshments provided by local 'witches and warlocks.' The event is free of charge, and no advance reservations are required. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience one of New Mexico’s most enduring and spine-tingling legends brought to life in the heart of Cibola County.
