Filiberto Martinez
Filiberto Martinez 11/25/1942 – 10/16/2024 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Filiberto Martinez, age 81.
Our heavenly father called him to rest on October 16, 2024 after battling a lengthy illness. Filiberto was known for his caring, loving, peaceful, and friendly demeanor. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren who brought him an immense amount of happiness. He enjoyed the holidays and barbeques that brought his family all together. He also enjoyed late night black and white movies, news, MSNBC, and the Wheel of Fortune that he would watch with my mother.
Filiberto enjoyed spending alone time with my mother where they would reminisce about the past, talk about their children, grandchildren, ailments, and he would always make loving gestures to say good morning to my mom.
Filiberto worked as a uranium miner for Homestake for 25 years, as a gold miner for nine years, and had several over mining carriers. He also worked for the railroad, Garcia’s janitorial, and Cibola County Schools before retiring to stay home with mom.
Filiberto Martinez is preceded in death by his mother: Lizita Garcia; father: Jubencio Martinez; brothers: Casemerio Encinas, Eduardo Encinas, Gabriel Martinez; children: Mary Margaret and baby boy Martinez, grandson Patrick Martinez, and great-granddaughter Angelita Waters.
