LAGUNA, New Mexico – It’s a fun-filled week in Laguna at their Laguna-Acoma Jr./Sr. High School as the students enjoy activities leading up to their Homecoming weekend.
The students enjoyed social events, such as wearing costumes on Tuesday and designing a Homecoming poster in their Advisory class.
A few of the creative costumes that the students enjoyed seeing were a mouse onesie, old ladies with grey wigs, hair curlers, and a cane, Sponge Bob and Patches, crazy hats, and others.
Students on the yearbook committee visited classes to interview students who would volunteer, and taking pictures for the annual yearbook.
The week’s events included scheduled games during the students’ lunch break.
The week’s scheduled events were: Monday: Patriotic/U.S.A. Day and Anything but a backpack.
The students dressed in red, white, and blue, or “patriotic”. Students also had to carry their supplies in anything but their usual backpack.
Their lunch time game was a 3-legged race.
Tuesday:
Character Day/ Rhyme without reason.
Students dressed as their favorite character, or with a partner, rhyming costumes that had no logical connection. For example, icy and spicy.
Their lunch time game was a Watermelon/Pumpkin pie eating contest.
Wednesday:
Dress as your grade.
Middle school and Freshman students dressed as babies. Sophomores dressed as toddlers. Juniors dressed as adults. Seniors dressed as senior citizens.
Their lunch time game was Snake.io Race (an online game). An evening bonfire was held for Sophomore, Junior, and Senior students.
Thursday:
Throwback Thursday. Students were to pick a decade to dress as.
Their lunch time game was a Tic Tac Toe Race.
Friday:
Class Colors
Middle School – green, Freshman- yellow, Sophomore – red, Juniors – Blue, Seniors – Pink, Staff – purple, Class Sponsor – wore their class colors.
All weeklong was filled with preparation for the weekend ceremonies with elected royalty.
A fun time was had by all.
