The Grants High School Lady Pirates basketball team is currently 0-2 as their season has a head start on other basketball programs after a couple of quick games.

Last Tuesday in a home game season opener the lady Pirates lost to the Lady Elkettes of Pojoaque 44-22 and this past Monday they hit the road against the Rio Grande Ravens and lost 54-44. Next up for the Lady Pirate will be the 2-0 Lady Sartans of Bernalillo on the road on December 5.

The GHS boys basketball program will start their seasons on Tuesday, December 3 on the road with Miyamura High School.

Lady Pirate Wrestling started their season at the Third Annual Conquer the Glyphs meet this past weekend. Dakota Billman placed third in the 107-pound weight class.

Paiszlyn Turley placed third in the 145pound Weight class.

Jaylene Morin placed third in the 165-pound weight class.

Danika Wilson placed third in the 185-pounds weight class.

Raeyna Valdez in fourth place in the 126pound weight class.

Reagan Palmer placed fourth in the 138-pound weight class.

The Laguna-Acoma boys basketball team will start their season on December 3 against Moriarity at home. Daryl Mariano is the new boys team head coach for the 2024-2025 season. They will host Moriarity on December 5. Mariano previously had been the head coach for the Lady Hawks during the 2022-2023 season.

Nicole Pedro is at the reins of the Lady Hawks basketball program and they will travel to Moriarity on December 5 for their season opener.
