Phillip Price, passed away December 1st, 2024, he was 82 years old. He was residing in Portland, OR with his youngest daughter who was by his side as he passed. Phil was born in Denver, Colorado in December 1941 to Olga and Ira. He spent much of his life in Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Olga, his older sister Betty, his younger brother Paul Dennis and nephew Michael.
He is survived by his daughters Kathy Chavez(Dan) Albuquerque, NM, Karen Patak Humble, TX and Dominique Price Portland, OR. Youngest sister, Peggy Hensley(Wes)Florida, nephews Chad Hensley(Melissa), Thomas Hensley. Sister in law Burleen and niece Laureen Alford. Grandchildren Nicole, Sara, Allison, Kyle and Five great grandchildren, Paydin, Ethan, Jibril, Adeline and Benjamin.
Phil graduated from Grants High and was the All-American Athlete, playing baseball, basketball, football and track in high school. He excelled at sports so much that he was offered a scholarship. Phil loved bowling, watching sports, car racing and westerns and of course Italian foods. He loved animals and was always ready to help an animal in need. He enjoyed travelling by car to explore new places and ghost towns.
He spent his life working as a miner. He worked at Homestake Mining Company, United Nuclear and other mining companies. He utilized his expertise as an instructor program coordinator at Grants Branch College NMSU. He eventually relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked for the Nevada Test Site prior to retiring.
Phil was a civic-minded individual. During the time he lived in Las Vegas, NV he helped houseless individuals residing at area shelters, such as The Shade Tree. He supported numerous charities.
Omega Funeral & Cremation is caring for arrangements. A small private dinner is being hosted by family and friends in the Portland area. A private family gathering will occur later in the spring of 2025 at which time an interment will take place where Phil will be laid to rest with his parents and siblings at Elwood Cemetery in Fruita, Colorado.
