Cibola’s January Indictments

has been indicted on the charges of aggravated burglary (second degree felony), aggravated battery (third degree felony), and false imprisonment (fourth degree felony). On April 27, 2024, Hechilay allegedly entered a house without authorization with the intent to commit these crimes. The above named defendant is said to have applied force on the occupant of the residence, when Hechilay entered, in an angry manner. Reportedly, Hechilay applied force with a folding hunting knife with the intent to injure. Allegedly, this person restrained or confined the residence occupant against her will.

Tonika Elaine Abeita has been indicted on the charges of abuse of a child (third degree felony), battery against a household member (misdemeanor), and resisting, evading, or obstruction of an officer (misdemeanor). On November 17, 2024, Abeita is said to have held a child under eighteen on the floor and stuck her on the face multiple times. The abovenamed defendant allegedly resisted or abused an officer with the Cibola County Sheriff's Office. The defendant waved the preliminary hearing.

Cassandra Candelaria has been indicted on the charges of battery upon a health care worker (fourth degree felony), battery upon a peace officer (fourth degree felony), assault upon a health care worker, resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer, and disorderly conduct. On approximately the 14th of September 2024, Candelaria is said to have unlawfully touched or applied force on a health care worker. Candelaria allegedly touched or applied force in a manner that physically injured, jeopardized safety of or challenged the authority of a peace officer with Grants Police Department. Reportedly, the above-named defendant attempted to commit battery upon a health care worker. Candelaria is also said to have attempted to evade an officer and engaged in disorderly conduct, with the intent of disturbing the peace.

Ayana Denay Craig has been indicted on the charges of aggravated assault (fourth degree felony), negligent use of a deadly weapon (intoxication) (petty misdemeanor), and negligent use of a deadly weapon (near dwelling or building) (petty misdemeanor). Allegedly, on the 27th of November 2024, Craig assaulted or struck at someone, using a .380 Cal Handgun, which can cause death or very serious injury. The above-named defendant is said to have carried a firearm while the influence of alcohol or narcotics. The defendant waived the preliminary hearing.
