GRANTS, N.M. – The 42nd Annual Mt. Taylor Quadrathlon brought out the best of the community as 105 competitors took on the grueling challenge, and volunteers worked tirelessly to make the event possible. Despite shifting race conditions due to an unseasonably warm winter, the event went off without a hitch, proving once again that the Quad is about more than just endurance— it’s about the heart of Grants, New Mexico.

From the early morning bike start to the final stretch of the race, volunteers played a vital role in keeping the Mt. Taylor Quadrathlon running smoothly. They managed aid stations, transported gear, and ensured that every transition area was fully stocked and ready. Their dedication is what makes the Quad a truly special hometown event.

Excitement built as racers powered their way back down the mountain, but the biggest moment of pride came when the first local athlete crossed the finish line. The Quad committee, made up of devoted volunteers and community members, erupted in cheers as they saw a hometown competitor complete the course, a reminder of how much this race means to the people of Cibola County.
