ZUNI MOUNTAINS, N.M. – We are pleased to share an exciting development in our community’s future. The Quartz Hill Trail System is a vital component of a comprehensive plan to position Grants as a premier visitor’s destination. This initiative aims not only to enrich outdoor recreation opportunities, but also to generate significant economic benefits for our region. This active trail system will allow visitors to enjoy a full day of riding and hiking experience in the beautiful Zuni Mountains and then when the Lobo Canyon Trail System is complete, the enthusiast and have full day of breath-taking experience in Lobo Canyon. Thus, encouraging the rider/hiker to spend the night and experience what our communities have to offer.
By fostering increased tourism and encouraging outdoor engagement, this project will serve as a catalyst for sustainable growth and prosperity in our communities. We invite your support and enthusiasm as we work toward transforming our community into a vibrant and attractive destination for all.

The Mt. Taylor Ranger District invites you to celebrate the long-anticipated Quartz Hill Trail system in the Zuni Mountains with the official dedication of four sustainably built trails.
The celebration will highlight the thoughtful planning, strong partnerships, and coordination among local leaders and partners on this exciting project! With the trail system nearing completion, four of the trails will receive their official dedication and be officially opened for use on National Trails Day, June 7th. Hikers and riders of all abilities are encouraged to attend this celebration in the beautiful Zuni Mountains.
