On July 24, 2025, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Deb Haaland visited Grants for an event hosted by the Cibola Federation of Democratic Women at the Coyote Del Malpais Golf Course. The election for New Mexico governor will take place in November 2026, the road to that race will require Haaland to win her party’s nomination in the June Primary.
