Eulalia “Lala” Ortega was called home to the Kingdom of Heaven at the age of 75 on October 4, 2022.
Lala was born on July 14, 1947, and grew up in Pecos, New Mexico. In the mid-1960s, she and her husband Ray relocated to Milan, New Mexico and raised their three children here.
Lala was a pillar of the community, working in the public schools and serving the Church. She was devoted to the Faith, instilling the fundamental values of prayer, service, and hard work in her children and grandchildren. Lala enjoyed gardening at home, playing cards with her friends, singing in the choir at St. Vivian’s parish, and cooking for her friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her father: Elias; mother: Felipita; brothers: Gene and Dennis; and sisters: Dorothy and Corrine.
She is survived by her husband: Ray; brothers: Elias, Phil, and David; sister: Evelyn; son: Gene; daughters: Joanna and Rhonda; she is also survived by her numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A rosary and Mass will be held on October 28, 2022 at St. Vivian’s Parish in Milan, New Mexico.
