Jimmy L Porter.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jimmy L Porter.
Jimmy passed away at home on Monday, January 20th, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born on Sunday, April 25, 1948, in Albuquerque, NM to Julius Porter and Mary Archunde Porter. He graduated from Grants High School; met Marcella “Marcy” Molina Porter and the two married on Saturday, August 12, 1967, and shared a beautiful life with love, adventure, and cherished memories.
He was a lifelong resident of San Rafael, retired from NMDOT.
He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping (many family camping trips), piñon picking with family & coaching softball (family team - Go “Blue J’s”).
Survived by his two daughters Betty Marie Porter & Partner Mark Ewell of Grants, NM; Sharon Gassaway and husband Jason Gassaway of Los Lunas, NM and four grandchildren (Jimmy, Timo & Frank Marez, and Jason Gassaway II), eleven great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and Sister’s/Brother’s-In-Law.
He is reunited in peace with his wife Marcella “Marcy” Porter.
Preceded in death by his parents: Julius and Mary Porter; grandchildren: Johnny Valdez, Gassaway Twins, great-great grandson Elijah; two sisters; five brothers.
Services will take place on Monday February 3, 2025, at San Rafael Catholic Church: Viewing will begin at 9:00 AM; Rosary at 10:00 AM; Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM, to be celebrated by Father Sangeeth. Burial to follow at “Porter Cemetery” in San Rafael.
