Sean Hocker
Sean passed away suddenly on April 3rd. in Albuquerque NM. at the young age of 44. He was born in Siloam Springs, Ark., January 18, 1981.
Sean was preceded in death by his grandfather: Carl Raymond Hocker, 1991; his Mother: Barbara Ann Miller Hocker, 2007; his grandfather: Bernie Miller, 2007; his grandmother: Maurine Miller, 2014; and his older brother: Roger Charles Hocker, 2020. The loss of five family members before age 40.
Sean was a happy child growing up in Grants, NM., playing outside with his friends and brothers, riding his bicycle, playing with toys, and watching movies and cartoons on TV. Sean attended Mesa View elementary school and Southwest Christion Academy in Grants, NM., and was active in his church. He played baseball, football, basketball through Grants Recreation, and later in his early teen years, joined a Soccer league.
Soccer and baseball were probably his favorite sports, and he was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals Baseball team fan. In middle school, Sean joined band and learned to play drums and tenor saxophone. He entered several solo and ensemble music competitions. Sean continued in both band and marching band in ninth and 10th grade. He soon got his own drum set and became a very good drummer.
Around the age of 17, Sean learned to ride motorcycles, and loved the thrill of riding fast. Sean earned his High School Diploma in 1999, and started classes at NMSU Grants, taking welding trade classes.
In July 2000, Sean took the big step of entering the US Marine Corps. Basic training was at MCRD San Diego, which he completed February 2, 2001. His older brother Roger, was also training at MCRD San Diego Ca. Sean served four years, with two years overseas duty, Bahrain, Kuwait, and two tours in Iraq, 2003 & 2004.
After honorable discharge, Sean made his home in Ocean Side, Ca. There he met Judith, who would become his wife. They were married in Grants, NM., on December 27, 2005, at the First United Methodist Church. They soon moved to Albuquerque and made their new home. It was about this time that Sean learned to Snowboard, roller blades, and took his boys ice skating.
Sean and Judith have two wonderful boys, Sean 19, and Raymond 14, whom he loved very much. Sean worked in several fields, painting, plumbing, welding, and security services. Judith works in medical Rehab.
Sean is survived by his wife: Judith; sons: Sean and Raymond; his father John; brother Jeremy; and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews. Sean always had a kind heart and always wanted to share what he had with others. Without our beloved son, brother, husband, and father, life will never be the same. Our hearts are broken, and we will always love and miss you.
Sean dealt with a lot of pain in his life, especially with the loss of his mother, who was often ill from type 1 diabetes; and the loss of his brother, Roger. He also carried many painful memories from the Iraq war.
Sean, you brought so much joy into my life and the rest of your family. I love you so much! Dad Sean Hocker’s funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Riverside Funeral Home Albuquerque 225 San Mateo Blvd. NE. Starting at 10 AM Burial with military honors will follow with Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
