Cleaning the beautiful community

Body

Dear Editor:

This past Saturday we had a Cibola County Cleanup in the beautiful Land Grant community of Seboyeta. There was a great turnout, and I am especially grateful for Kilino Marquez and Debbie Lopez that are on the Land Grant Board. They work so hard for their community and as a result we had many residents show up!

Cibola County Commissioner Christine Lowery was there helping her District. Commissioner Lowery has been a joy to work with the past couple of years. She is a Navy Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Commissioner Lowery has a PhD in Social Work and taught at universities throughout her career. Not only does she do her homework, but she is always prepared with intelligent questions. She comes to every County Cleanup in her District and works hard to the end. Service to others is always her mantra! Thank you for your hard work and inquisitive mind.

Our next cleanup will be in Cubero on July 31, 2021, from 8 am to 12 noon. There will also be a big celebration this coming Saturday in Bluewater Village for Pioneer Days. There will be a pancake breakfast at 8 am and a Parade at 10 am. There will be a potluck lunch at noon. The celebration will go all day and into the evening with two different bands and dancing. A big thanks to Kathy and Ivan Chavez from Silver linings and Larry Carver from Carver Oil for making generous donations. Coyote Drilling is having bouncy houses brought in for the kids.

I am so proud to live in this beautiful county. I have great respect for the good people that work so hard to keep it clean and invite economic development by doing so. I thank our Heavenly Father for answering our prayers and sending rain.
