What Artificial Intelligence Advancements Mean for Us
Body

Since the rise of Artificial Intelligence, it has continually progressed, developing a more complex and intricate system, while also gaining popularity among not only the common people, but government use as well.

AI operates 24/7, requiring a constant, reliable, high-density electricity supplied power. Because it requires a large amount of energy to power its massive data centers, uranium will be used to fuel the nuclear power plants that will power the data centers that run AI. These data centers are projected to consume over one trillion watt-hours annually by 2030, meaning that AI requires an unprecedented scale and density of energy.

Recently, the US government has partnered with private companies to pledge $80,000,000,000 to accelerate the deployment of nuclear power to meet rising AI energy.

But what does this all mean for us locally and for the world?

As the uranium capital of the world and with our mines potentially reopening, we face the potential for economic benefits that include over 500 job openings and a significant increase in local revenue.

While the local impact will be good, the overall impact of AI is ultimately negative. Hundreds of thousands of people are and will continue to be laid off as companies decide to replace human employees with technology. One of the reasons for this replacement is so that the companies can save money. There are few, if any, jobs that technology cannot replace. So when the majority of workers are technology, the question about where we will get our money and afford to live is a concern.

Additionally, security risks are heightened, as AI can be used by and against anyone. Artificial intelligence comes from somewhere. It is claimed that there is not a single person or entity in charge of it, with it being distributed among governments, academia, and those in the technology sector. However, do we really believe that a person can’t find a way to harness it or that it won’t turn against humans? Realistically, we

can’t.

Demis Hassabis, the CEO of an AI research lab stated “We need to solve the control problem before AI becomes too powerful.” As someone who knows about AI, as he works at a research lab, this suggests that he knows the true dangers behind AI. But then again, almost everyone with knowledge about it knows the danger. Elon Musk even stated “With Artificial intelligence, we are summoning the demon.”

If he doesn’t mean literally, then lets think about how many people, particularly young people, are relying heavily on AI. It doesn’t matter how much it is used right now, as it will increase and still has its effects on them. Using AI depletes critical thinking, making them reliant on something other than their own knowledge, understanding, and capabilities. Do we really want to leave the future in the hands of people that rely on AI? Will it lead to people being unable to think for themselves? Will AI or the person/group behind it be truly ruling? And will that being behind AI really be human, or the “demon” Musk mentioned… or something even more sinister?

Should we be concerned? Yes. Why? Because these are unprecedented times with unfathomable risks- risks that will increase “The pace of progress in artificial intelligence… is incredibly fast… It is growing at a pace close to exponential. The risk of something seriously dangerous happening is in the five-year time frame. 10 years at most.” - Elon Musk

The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority. Revelation 13:2.

People Worshipped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked “Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?” Revelation 13:4.

Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. Revelation 13:14
