Letters to the Editor . . .

Body

Dear editor, It takes a lot of courage and a desire to help people to run for public office. There is a euphoria in winning, terrible disappointment in losing. I have experienced both feelings in my lifetime.

I wanted to be sure to let NM State Representative, District 69, Harry Garcia, know how grateful this District is to have had him represent us! Not only did Harry Garcia fight off bad gun legislation and fight like heck to keep our Core Civic Corrections Center open and save 250 jobs, he has fought tirelessly for the rights of our veterans. Harry also voted against the Energy Transition Act that hurt our communities and came at a loss of hundreds of jobs, including the recent loss of jobs at Peabody Coal. Harry held the line against many pieces of bad legislation that put him at odds with the progressive left of his party and the governor and most likely cost him his elected office.

Harry Garcia brought tens of millions of Capital Outlay dollars to our area and the use of those dollars is very obvious as you see the many projects that have been completed and in the process of being completed.

I also wanted to thank Harry and his wife, Marie, for donating $6,000.00 to have the Veterans Memorial at Veterans Park painted beautifully with scenes that remind us that 'freedom is never free'. Harry has been wonderful to work with even though we are of different political parties, we became good friends. When you see Harry, thank him for his service, not only to our country in Vietnam as a Marine, but to our State and many communities. Thank you NM State Representative Harry Garcia!

Robert S. Windhorst (R), Cibola County Commissioner, District 4
