Supreme Court Decision in Birthright Citizenship Case

Dear editor, While we are disappointed that the Supreme Court has allowed the President’s unconstitutional executive order limiting birthright citizenship to be enforced in certain parts of the country, New Mexicans should take comfort in the fact that this decision will not impact our communities because of our steadfast commitment to upholding the rule of law and our willingness to fight to uphold our constitutional order.

We remain confident that this Executive Order clearly unlawful and deeply harmful to millions of Americans - will ultimately be struck down. Until then, our fight continues, and we will not waver in our commitment to safeguarding the Constitution and the dignity of all who call this country home.

Attorney General Raúl Torrez

Take Pride in Grants

Dear editor, With the completion of the enclosed arena at the rodeo grounds and the longest continuous 4th of July Parade in the State of New Mexico, the City of Grants is expecting larger crowds than usual to celebrate the 4th of July! To make this holiday as safe as can be, please be aware of your surroundings, use plenty of sunblock and stay hydrated. The City of Grants will have plenty of trash cans along the Parade Route, please remember to throw away all your trash. I will also have volunteers walking the parade route with large plastic sacks. This will be the 11th year we have put together the volunteers. The goal was to make the city, after the parade, look like there was no parade! The volunteers will be wearing shirts donated by the good folks at Delta Tire. The shirts say, 'Take Pride in Grants'. Thank you, Delta Tires for your generosity and care for the city! Thank you, Wade, at Diamond G, and your wonderful staff that support these clean-up efforts!

The United States of America will be 249 years old this July 4th! I love this holiday because it reminds me of the blessings we have as citizens of this nation. The men and women that have fought and defended our county are patriots and heroes! They endured unspeakable hardships so that all of us could warm ourselves by the fires of liberty. For all of these heroes, we cannot have enough holidays where their service to our country is mentioned in hushed reverence. I have traveled to many places and I have seen many things. America is the greatest country in the world! May God always bless this great nation and may peace and unity bring us together.
