CCEDF Director's First 90 Days: Building Partnerships, Driving Growth, and Creating Opportunity
Body

As I reflect on my first 90 days as Director of the Cibola Communities Economic Development Foundation (CCEDF), I am filled with optimism about the future of Cibola County. These first few months focused on listening, learning, and building the relationships necessary to create long-term economic opportunities.

Since stepping into this role, I have had the privilege of meeting with local elected officials, business owners, educators, nonprofit leaders, regional partners, and residents. Each conversation has reinforced what I already believed: Cibola County has incredible assets, dedicated people, and tremendous potential. Our greatest opportunity lies in working together toward a shared vision for economic growth.

One of my top priorities has been strengthening partnerships. Economic development requires collaboration among local governments, schools, businesses, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and community members. Over the past 90 days, CCEDF has expanded relationships with the City of Grants, the Village of Milan, Cibola County, Grants-Cibola County Schools, NMSU-Grants, Cibola General Hospital, local businesses, and state and regional economic development partners.

Workforce development has also been a major focus. I have met with education and workforce leaders to explore opportunities to expand career and technical education, entrepreneurship, and workforce training. Preparing our current and future workforce is essential to supporting existing businesses and attracting new investment.

We are also strengthening how Cibola County markets itself. CCEDF is rebuilding its website, enhancing the promotion of commercial and industrial properties, and expanding our digital presence. We are showcasing our strategic Interstate 40 location, Historic Route 66, outdoor recreation, natural beauty, and quality of life to better position Cibola County for business recruitment and investment.

Outdoor recreation is another important economic development strategy. Working with Cibola Outdoors, the Trail Alliance, local governments, and community partners, we are developing initiatives that encourage our own community members and visitors to explore our trails, public lands, and support our local businesses. These efforts complement our tourism assets and help diversify our economy.

Housing is equally important. Employers need communities with quality housing for their workforce, and families deserve safe, affordable places to call home. CCEDF is actively pursuing partnerships and funding opportunities that can help address local housing needs.

The first 90 days have been about laying the groundwork. My commitment is to continue focusing on business attraction and retention, workforce development, entrepreneurship, housing, grant development, and community partnerships that move Cibola County forward.

I look forward to working alongside local leaders, businesses, and partners to create more jobs, attract new investment, and expand opportunities for current and future generations. Together, we are building a stronger future for Cibola County.
