The Grants High School Lady Pirates cross country team took the district championship last weekend beating out top cross-country teams not only in their district but in the state and The L-A cross country team did well last week at the district meet. The boys placed 1st in their district and the Lady Hawks placed second.
The GHS boys’ crosscountry team placed a notable third place.
Three Lady Pirates finished first, second, and third to dominate the top spots. Alana Victorino finished first with a time of 20:16.13 followed by Alyn Othole with a time of 20:31.69 and Laila Martinez finished 3rd with a time of 20:44.27.
Sianalee Chavez finished sixth with a time of 21:24.36 and Kiara Romero finished 10th with a time of 22:15.65.
The GHS boys cross country team placed 3rd in the district with Nathanial Saltach placing 10th with a time of 17:39.66, Raydan-James Ray finished 12 with a time of 18.51:27 followed by Kingston Martinez with a time of 19:25.34 The L-A cross country team did well last week at the district meet.
Togayo Pedro placed first in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:16.64, Carter Patricio 18:30.78, Aiden Vallo, 18:44.18, Nicholas Vicente 20:46.20 and Nolan Valdo with a time of 20:50.36. Lady Hawk Mia Smith placed first with a time of 22:13.30 followed by teammate Sophia Toledo with a time of 26:50.64 to place ninth.
The L-A volleyball team is second in district 1-2A will host Ramah (11-10, 3-4 ) on November 4 in a district match up and then play away on November 7 against Dulce (7-13, 1-6).
The L-A Hawks football team is 4-5, 2-3.
