In number 1 singles play Lady Pirate Kylee Sandoval was defeated by Angelina Duselis 6-1, 6-0. Number 2 singles Amelia Torres for the Lady Pirates was defeated by Siena Sturgis in 3 sets, 46, 6-4, 6-2.
Number 3 for the Lady Pirates Maya Yates was defeated by Giana Tuggie 6-1, 6-0. In double play Pirates number 1 team consisting of Kylee Sandoval and Maya Yates defeated Angelina Duselis and Siena Sturgis 8-2.
In number 2 doubles play Amelia Torres and Emma Munson defeated Gianna Tuggie and Carly Moore 8-3.
In number 3 doubles play Pirates Jenna Chavez and Caprice Gallegos defeated Adalynn Day and Emerson Aronow 8-2. Their next match is at home against Valencia (08, 0-0) in a district match.
The GHS Boys Tennis team is currently 6-8,1-1 and are currently ranked 2nd in district 1/5. just behind number 1 St. Pius (50, 3-0).
In the most recent match the Pirates lost 5-4 to Hope Christian 5-4 in a non-district match on March 26th.
In singles play number 1 Carlos Fenandez was defeated by Ethan Adkins 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10– 6.
Number 2 Lucas Rychener defeated Cameran Junick 6-3, 6-2. Number 3 Jake Masoner defeated Bernard Joshua Laberinto 1-6, 6-3,(10-8).
In double play Lucas Rychener and Carlos Fernadez defeated Ethan Adkins and Cameran Junick 8-4. In number 2 doubles play Bernand Joshua Laberinto and Ian Villegas defeated Jake Masoner Charlie Nickolson 8-6. Next up for the Pirates will be Valencia (4-5, 0-0) on April 2nd in a district match up at home.
The GHS boy and girls track team participated at the Lelan Adaire Invite on March 28th. The Lady Pirates placed 2nd at that event with 97 points. The GHS boys placed 3rd with 82 points. Notables were Allison Hobbs first in the 100 meters dash with a time of 13.59. Laila Martinez placed 1st int the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:17.11. Sianalee Chavez placed 5th in that race with a time of 6:10.99.
Kiara Romero placed 5th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:53.82.
The Lady Pirates placed 2nd in the 4X100 relay race with a time of 57.17. They also placed 2nd in the 4x800 relay with a time of 11:39.35.
Allison Hobbs placed 1st in the triple jump with a jump of 30-11.00. Alyssa Newbury placed 3rd in the triple jump with a jump of 27-11.25. Tori Felipe placed 1st in the shot put with a throw of 31-4.00. Tori Felipe also placed 1st in the discus with a throw of 97-7.50. Felipe also placed 1st in the javelin with a throw of 96-11.
For the GHS boys track team Cardenio Chavez placed 2nd in the 100 meter run with a time of 11.97. Victor Chavira placed 2nd in the 200 meters with a time of 24.68. James Raydan-Ray placed in the 200 meters with a time of 24.97.
Nathaniel Saltclaw placed 3rd in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:39.78. Leidyn Juanico placed 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 49.76.
Cardenio Chavez placed 1st in the long jump with a jump of 1905.00. James Raydan-Ray placed 2nd in that event with a jump of 18-06.50.
