GRANTS, N.M. “Fear the Gap” was the name of the most recent track meet the Pirates participated in. It was held at Piedra Vista High School last weekend.
Notables for the Pirates were Laila Martinez who placed 1st in the 800 meters with a time of 2:14.65. Sianalee Chavez placed 1st in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:18.75. Tori Felipe placed 1st in the javelin with a throw of 100-3. Felipe also placed 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 30-9.00. Allison Hobbs placed 3rd in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.23.
Amaya Antonio placed 3rd in the discus throwing 87-10.00. For the boys track team, Cardeno Chavez placed 1st in the long jump with a jump of 210.00 And 3rd in the boys high jump 6-0.00.
In addition both the Pirate boys and girls teams placed top 3 in numerous medley events.
