Cibola Fishing Report – July 12–18

Body

The catfish bite remained strong at Bluewater Lake this week, with anglers finding success along the shoreline using raw shrimp and Carolina rigs. Multiple catches were reported over the weekend, including several channel catfish over 20 inches. Those using hot dogs found slower, but still consistent, action— especially in the early evening hours.

This week, Tiger Muskie fishing was rated GOOD, particularly for those casting spinnerbaits. While fewer recent reports have come in, the muskie continue to stir interest with their size and elusive strikes.

Water elevation at Bluewater Lake measured 6,871 feet as of July 17, continuing the gradual summer decline. With shrinking shoreline access, visitors are reminded to scout fishing spots early and bring plenty of water and sun protection.

Boating conditions remain EXCELLENT, with 705 surface acres open and over 7,000 acre-feet of volume reported as of July 7. But due to ongoing drought and fire danger, Stage II Fire Restrictions remain in effect through September 30. This includes a full ban on campfires, charcoal grills, and open flames—even in developed areas. Smoking is also prohibited except in enclosed vehicles or barren areas cleared of flammable material.

Fireworks remain prohibited within the park at all times. OHVs,ATVs, and dirt bikes are also not allowed within park boundaries.

No new fishing reports were submitted this week from the Grants Riverwalk Pond.
