The Grants High School soccer season has drawn to a close with the GHS boys soccer team wrapping up the season with a 3-13, 0-8 record. They lost their last two most recent games. On October 17 they lost to Highland High School (11-8-1, 6-2) by a score of 10-0. On October 22 they lost to Belen High School (6-13-1, 2-6) by a score of 6-0.
'The biggest outtake this year was teaching them how to win,' said GHS boys soccer head coach John Malcolm 'We won 3 and lost 4 by 1 goal or less.'
The Pirates will lose Ernesto Hernandez, Clayton Arguello and Fabian Pena to graduation this year. The Pirates were fifth out of five teams in District 5 4A. At the top were St. Pius, Highland, Valencia and Belen.
The Lady Pirates ended their season with a 3-13, 1-7 record. The Lady Pirates lost to Highland High School (11-9, 4-4) on October 17th by a score of 5-0. The lady Pirates were fifth out of five teams in district 5 4A with St. Pius, Belen, Highland and Valencia placing in that order.
The Lady Pirates have three seniors Monique Martinez, Shiann Medina and Faythahm Riley.
