GRANTS, N.M. - “Dulce was an excellent team to face in our first district game,” said Lady Hawks head coach Jolynn Martinez. “They’re a formidable team–but we were well-prepared to handle them.”
Handle them they most certainly did, the Hawks went up 18-3 in the first quarter and the score at half was comfortable 31-15. The Hawks never looked back and the final score was 62-43.
“We entered the game with the energy we’ve ben building up for every game,” said Martinez. “My girls have been working tirelessly in practice every day to achieve the results we achieved with that win.”
High scorers for the Hawks in the Dulce game were Jasie Garcia with 17 followed by Christianna Carillo with 13 and Brianna Carillo with 11.
The Lady Hawks will face a tough district opponent in Rehoboth (8-6,10) on Tuesday, January 27th. “We are ready to demonstrate what we’ve been working on and continue to perform strongly– we must execute the game plan for the from beginning to end—push through challenges— anand maintain our focus,” said Martinez.
