On December 18 they defeated Durango High School (3-5) in a barn burner, 51-49.
“Durango was big for us since we got smacked by them last year,” said GHS Lady Pirate head coach Jesi Mandagaran. “The win gave us confidence moving forward.”

On December 19 they played Piedra Vista (5-2) and lost by a respectable 11 points, 50-39, to a 5A team.

On December 20th they played Belen (4-6) and defeated the Lady Eagles soundly, 62-28.
“The Belen win was nice for us to see how we match up in districts,” said Mandagaran.
Next up for the Lady Pirates are the Lady Sundevils of Espanola (4-4) on January 1st at home. Mandagaran said of that game, “We are ready to see how we can answer back from last year’s devastating loss to them—we were up most of the game lost in the final minutes.”
The Lady Hawks lost their most recent game 68-53 to 3A Tohatchi High School (7-3) on the road.
Currently they are 6-3 headed into their next game against Jemez Valley (09) on January 3.
