GRANTS, N.M. — The wait is over. Registration is officially open for the 43rd Annual Mt. Taylor Winter Quadrathlon — one of the most unique endurance races in the country. The beloved “Quad” will once again challenge athletes to bike, run, ski, and snowshoe their way up and down Mt. Taylor, turning a dormant volcano into the stage for New Mexico’s most legendary winter adventure.

Organizers say the best way to get updates right now is through the official Mt. Taylor Quadrathlon Facebook page, where details on registration, volunteer opportunities, and community events will be posted in the weeks ahead.

In true community spirit, the Quadrathlon is calling on local artists to help define this year’s look. Organizers are accepting submissions for the official 2025 t-shirt logo design. Entries must be submitted in JPEG, TIFF, or EPS format t o mttaylorquadrathlon@gmail .com by September 17, 2025.

The winning design will be featured on the official event t-shirts, highlighted on the race website and social media, and earn the designer a free shirt showcasing their artwork. It’s a chance to leave your mark on Quad history — and to make your creativity part of the event’s legacy.

This year’s event also has a focus on giving back to Cibola County’s youth. Organizers are inviting the public to contribute to the Mt. Taylor Quadrathlon scholarship fund, which helps get young people involved in the race and builds the next generation of endurance athletes. “Only in New Mexico” seems like the perfect tagline for the Quadrathlon.

Where else can you find a race that mixes biking, running, skiing, and snowshoeing up a dormant volcano? Powered by volunteers and Cibola Community support, the Quad has carried on for more than four decades — and it’s still climbing.
