Twelve wrestlers from the Grants High School boys and girls wrestling teams are headed off to the state tournament this upcoming weekend. Six qualified for the girls team and 6 for the boys team after the regional meet last weekend.
These are the six and what they placed last week at regionals.
For the Lady Pirates Paizlyn Turley placed 2nd in regionals to qualify for state, Raeyna Valdez 3rd in 125lbs., Reagan Palmer placed 6th at 156lbs. and Kim Palmer placed 7th at 140lbs. Wild cards are Makalya Chavez at 145lbs.,Cadence Martinez at 110 lbs. Representing GHS boys wrestling are Antonio Devargas 4th at 225lbs., Dominic Otero 6th at 190lbs., Tanner Meader 6th at 113lbs., Kody Vernon 7th at 157lbs., Mauricio Devargas 7th at 138lbs. and Rey Chavira 7th at 138lbs.
