18th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

On Monday January 15 the country celebrated the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who would have been 95 this year. Cibola County held a small celebration honoring Dr. King at the Cibola County Conventional Center. The celebration included breakfast and a ceremony to commemorate the late Civil Rights Leader. During the ceremony it was also announced which individuals will be receiving a scholarship, Jayla Aragon, Denise Kyer, Victoria Vigil, Essie Yazzie, Demitri Barraza, and Armanya Pouges. Multiple schools also participated in the ceremony by writing essays and drawing pictures to honor Dr. King. The schools that participated are, Bluewater, Seboyeta, St. Teresa, San Rafael and Los Alamitos. Breakfast was sponsored by San Rafael Elementary.
