GRANTS, NM - Affordable housing will be the main topic of discussion at the February 22 Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Luncheon at El Cafecito Restaurant. Members of the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA) will be leading the discussion, including: Isidoro Hernandez, Executive Director/ CEO; Jeff Payne, Chief Lending Officer; and Julie Halbig, Director of Compliance, and Initiatives.

Affordable housing is a major concern throughout the State of New Mexico. Thankfully, MFA continues to work hard toward providing opportunity for all New Mexicans to have a quality affordable home.

In 1975 the New Mexico state legislature created the MFA, a quasigovernmental entity with the power to raise funds from private investors to make such private funds available to finance the acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, and improvement of residential housing for persons and families of low- and moderate- income within the state. Using funding from housing bonds, tax credits and other federal and state agencies, MFA provides resources to build affordable rental communities, rehabilitate aging homes, supply down payment assistance and affordable mortgages, offer emergency shelter and administer rental assistance and subsidies.

MFA partners with lenders, realtors, nonprofit organizations, local governments, tribal communities, and developers throughout the state to make these programs and services available to all eligible New Mexicans.

In addition to the MFA presentation at the Chamber Quarterly Luncheon, State Representatives Eliseo Alcon and Harry Garcia and State Senators George Munoz and Joshua Sanchez will provide comments regarding the results of the 2024 Legislative Session. The Session started on January 16 and will end on February 15.

The Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Luncheon presentation is free to Grants/Cibola Chamber of Commerce members. Non-Member charge is $10. The seating is limited to forty people. Reserve your seat(s) today. Call 505-287-4802.
