NEW MEXICO - U.S. Senate candidate Mark Ronchetti claimed that he doesn’t believe there is systemic racism in America during the senate debate on New Mexico PBS television.

Ronchetti specifically stated that “this is not a systematically racist country.”

“Mark Ronchetti’s denial of systemic racism tonight was deeply troubling,” said Democratic Party of New Mexico Chair Marg Elliston. “Systemic racism is real: we can see it in our education system, our healthcare system, and in our criminal justice system. During this pivotal moment in history, it is important that we come together and acknowledge that this is a problem, so that we can have an open dialogue about addressing it. The Democratic Party of New Mexico stands with those who are raising their voices against systemic racism, and we call on Mark Ronchetti to retract his comments.”
