Keith Lowell Thomas (“Mr. T”)

Keith Lowell Thomas, known to many as “Mr. T,” passed away on March 28, 2026, in Grants, New Mexico, at the age of 84.

Born in Santa Rita, New Mexico, and raised in Los Alamos and Albuquerque, Keith lived a life marked by perseverance, faith, and a deep love for family. He is survived by his wife, Meg Thomas; his sons, Jeff, James, John, and Tim Thomas; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Stephen, Veanna, Leena, Evan, Skyler, and Savannah; and his great-granddaughter, Shaia.

Keith served in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1958 to 1962 before pursuing higher education at New Mexico Highlands University. He ultimately earned a Ph.D. in School Administration—an extraordinary achievement given his early struggles with undiagnosed dyslexia.

He began his career teaching in Klamath Falls, Oregon, later worked in sales and entrepreneurship, and returned to education at Grants High School, where he retired. He had a remarkable ability to connect with students and inspire them to reach their potential.

A lifelong learner, Keith was deeply interested in the work and lives of his children and even authored a science fiction novel, Teacher of Destruction. He loved fishing, hunting, and time with family.

Keith designed and built the family home in Grants with his wife and children and was always planning his next project. Known for his bold personality, he brought humor and warmth to those around him with his classic “Dad” jokes. He loved Jesus, enjoyed watching Matt’s Off-Road Recovery, and had a thoughtful way of showing love through meaningful gifts.

Keith will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and mentor whose impact will be felt for generations.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Grants Church of Christ in Grants, New Mexico, on June 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
