William “Bud” Willoughby passed away late Thursday afternoon on the 13th of July 2023 in Albuquerque, NM; and found peace after struggling with cancer.

He was 82 years old. Mr. Willoughby was born on the 8th of November 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky to William H. Willoughby and Gertrude McFarland-Willoughby.

Upon moving to NM in the early 1970’s, he became an active member of Saint Vivian’s Catholic Church and a resident of Milan, NM. Prior to his retirement, he owned the NAPA Auto Parts in Grants, NM for a little over 40 years. He was an incredibly proud father, family man, avid Gardener and a true Child of God.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Laura “Lynn” Willoughby of Milan, NM; three daughters, Angela Lopez and husband Humberto of Dallas, TX, Merritt Willoughby of Albuquerque, NM, Scarlett Russell and husband Scott of Grants, NM; one sister, Anne Mathis of Mobile, AL and her children; two Grandchildren, Heath and Lincoln Lopez of Dallas, TX. His parents, William H. Willoughby and Gertrude McFarland-Willoughby preceded him in death.

Pallbearers are Scott Russell, Creigh Russell, Tyler Hayes, Shawn Akins, James Akins, Alan Nanco, and James Hubbard.

Services will be held on Monday, July 31 at St. Theresa de Avila Catholic Church, Rosary at 9:30 am Services at 10 am, Burial at 11:30 am at Grants Memorial Park Cemetery. Mt Taylor Funerals and Cremations is in care of the arrangements.
