Thanking community members

Body

Dear Editor;

I wanted to thank everyone that turned out for our Cibola County Cleanup at Mt. Taylor Addition this past Saturday. Grants City Councilman Erik Garcia, George Olveda, Tony Canaba, the Ford family, and many others came to help and make their community cleaner. The Fords took me to the back of Mt. Taylor Addition where there is a lot of cliffs and beautiful scenery marred by illegally dumped materials everywhere. There is even a full-sized boat dumped out there! We will be tacking this soon. We cleaned both sides of Old 66 and it looked a lot better after we were finished. We even collected trash and junk stacked along the streets. I want to thank Northwest New Mexico Regional Solid Waste Authority for their continued support of our program to make Cibola County the cleanest County in the State of New Mexico. Thank you to Wade and all the good folks at Diamond G. that have always been supportive of these cleanups.

This coming Saturday, March 27th, we will be having a cleanup in the beautiful Village of Milan! From 8 a.m. to 12 noon, we need volunteers to come out and help us clean up Old Route 66 and the area near Luvs. We will have three 40-yard dumpsters, one exclusively for tires parked at the Milan Recreational Center and we will have a backhoe to help residents throw their trash, junk, rubbish, old furniture into the dumpsters. We encourage everyone to practice social distancing. Being out in the sun and fresh air and cleaning up your town is a great way to spend a Saturday morning.

With all the bad news that goes around, sinking our hearts and destroying our peace, we can serve our neighbors and our communities and make them a place we can be proud to live in. Hard work and selfless service improves everything! Clean cities are safer cities. We look forward to seeing you Saturday. Future cleanups to be announced soon.
