“Social media is a dangerous place to seek affirmation, acceptance, identity, and security.” Cornelius Lindsey The Impact of Social Media is both positive and negative. Some of the good things about it is you can find useful information, learn to cook or bake, stay connected with loved ones, etc.

The negative effects of social media happen to us so often, we don’t even realize. It is extremely addicting, which causes not only teens, but adults as well, to spend more time online than with their family or friends. Bullies are often tougher online, which is one of the many things on social media that can cause anxiety and depression. “Social media is training us to compare our lives instead of appreciating everything we are. No wonder why everyone is getting depressed.” -Bill Murray

People even get comfortable with sharing information online, which can be dangerous. There are many predators online, that we aren’t aware of. And there are things online that we should not have access to.

“Fifteen years ago, the internet was an escape from the real world. Now, the real world is an escape from the internet.” - Noah Smith Before social media, life was much simpler. Families were closer, people were involved in their communities, and people had stronger relationships in real life.

People cared much less about what they were wearing and didn’t compare themselves to others as much as they do now. They were always present and lived in the moment, creating lasting memories.

Unlike most people, I don’t go on social media. I was once addicted to being online, but then I realized how miserable I really was. So now, I limit my screen time and only do productive things.

I now enjoy life much more and appreciate everything God has blessed me with.

“Social media has many benefits but the quality of our life has become largely dependent on what we post online and how it compares to everyone else in our feed. Don’t let your value be attached to your online presence. It’s unhealthy. Appreciate life. Stop the comparison.” - Mufti Menk “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10
