How to handle crime

Dear editor,

Last month I traveled with my wife to a friend’s funeral in Quemado, NM. I was very impressed with how the church handled the funeral, it was full and that’s always a good sign the deceased had many friends and effected many people in that small community. I noticed a few of the church members were wearing firearms in the open. I was not worried being in a community made up of mostly of ranchers where both our families going back to our parents and grandparent raised families and are buried in the local cemetery. As I was leaving the church, I noticed a large sign which stated, “THESE DOORS ARE LOCKED AFTER SERVICES START” “RING THE BELL FOR ENTRANCE” “24/7 VIDEO SURLEVALLNCE”. After some thought I asked myself after 911 we started locking, and beefing up cockpit doors, and arming the pilots. I do not believe we have had any issues with any more highjackings since then? Sadly, some other places have had churches assaulted leading to death of some of the members because some deranged idiot wanted to make the news, Texas Church Shooting | NBC News. We even had one nut this past week take hostages, thank goodness none but the idiot got hurt, Texas synagogue hostage-taker killed by multiple gun shots - California News Times. My point is why pastors and church members in all churches are not taking the same precautions as airlines did after 911. Trying to take guns away from everyone is not going to solve the problem, in fact it will make it worse. States with good second amendment laws have less crime than places that restrict guns, do areas with Stricter Gun Laws have less crime? - Civics Nation. I watched the evening national, and state news this evening and the lead stories was crime out of control. Even New Mexico legislators were talking about repleading or changing the Bail Reform law they created, Is Bail Reform Really Working in New Mexico? (bailbondsnow.org). Well, I said it repeatedly, the farright Democrats have a screw loose and every time they try and fix things, they end up making it worse. We have to start over or wait until something really bad happens to make the news for them to do something before some person out on bail kills someone, Christmas parade suspect was out on bail (yahoo.com) whoops! Of course, everyone involved is not to blame form the legislators, the Judges, and the district attorneys. I think we should make a law that lets you sue government officials, maybe that new law would apply, New Mexico governor signs law eliminating qualified immunity - JURIST - News. Well, we have some elections coming up, going to give it try, it’s easy to complain, it’s harder to do something. Do your part vote for Conservative Democrats, and if you can’t find one, vote Republican.

Signed,

Mr. Harry l. Hall
