Let them know what you think

Dear Editor,

Citizens of Grants, we need our City Council to do its job, but City business cannot happen if the duly-elected Councilors don't show up at City Council meetings! Three members of the Grants City Council did not appear at the Special City Council Meeting on Monday, December 27, 2021. Due to their non-appearance a quorum did not exist and the City's business could not be conducted.

Rick Lucero (District 2), Fred Rodarte (District 3), and Fred Padilla (District 4) should be ashamed of themselves for their petty behavior. Their constituents should also be ashamed of them as they, the constituents, are not being represented by these no-show council members. It is my hope that their constituents will let them know by calling them via City Hall (505) 287-7927, or by emailing them: Rick Lucero: district2@grantsnm.gov Fred Rodarte: district3@grantsnm.gov Fred Padilla: district4@grantsnm.gov Mr. Lucero and Mr. Padilla are potentially up for re-election at the March 1, 2022 election. They have until January 4, 2022 to file. However, their constituents need to let them know NOW (i) if they want these two men to run again; and (ii) what their thoughts are of these two men not showing up to do their job. Mr. Rodarte has indicated he wants to run for mayor. His constituents also need to let him know (i) if they would vote for him as mayor; and (ii) what their thoughts are of him not showing up to do his job.

Please! Let them know what you think!! The missing Council members will have another chance to show up at the next Special Council Meeting on Monday, January 3, 2022.

I am also sending this to all four councilors and to the mayor.

Sincerely,

Julie Junod
