Congratulations to Bluewater Elementary

Dear editor, The Double Six Art Gallery salutes and congratulates the students, parents, and staff of the Bluewater Elementary School. Bluewater students accomplished spectacular academic successes – grade wise and rating wise in the tests administered in the 21-22 school term.

Kudos to all involved in this inspiring achievement!

Compliments to the Village, school staff, and most importantly, the students for their work of learning. Staff at the Cibola Arts Council

Taking Care of America

Dear editor, Well, our President has decided he’s going to ban assault firearms, because “he did it before, and he will do it again!” His last speech blamed MAGA Republicans and Donald Trump for all the problems we are going through. Please somebody get him a mirror! I thought China and Russia were our biggest problem? Biden voted against abortion in 1982, said women should not get them and the states should decide, Biden evolving views on abortion – Catholic League. Biden passed a law that convicted felons could not apply for Pell college grants which hurts minorities today, The Supreme Court will likely block Biden's student debt relief plan, but there's a backup. (slate.com). I think if you served your time, you should be able to get a college grant, and be allowed to vote! Many big city mayors are complaining about Texas sending them illegal immigrants to their cities and want the National Guard called out! But its ok for Biden to fly them in at the taxpayers’ expense, give them a cell, phone, shelter, food, medical, and legal help. The icing on the cake is they will come to any court or hearing on time, and not hide out. New York even gave illegal immigrants the right to vote but a court said that was illegal. We can't even take care of Jackson Mississippi, and give people clean drinking water because of Democrats, who say it will take a billion dollars to fix, Jackson Has A $1 Billion Water Problem— Feds Gave Mississippi $75 Million (msn.com). So why do we keep spending money on other countries, and illegal immigrants when we can’t even take care of the tax paying people in America?

Signed, Mr. Harry L. Hall USAF Veteran Retired Police/Sheriff Lt. Taking Drugs off the streets

Dear editor, I would like to thank all of the participants, sponsors and entities that helped support the recent prescription/non-prescription collection for the month of August 2022. The city of Grants-city hall, senior center, Milan VFD, Grants GFR, Cibola County sheriff's office and Parkhurst pharmacy were instrumental in collecting and helping dispose of 40 pounds of medications that will not wind up in a land fill or our sewer system protecting our precious water sources from potential contamination.

Just think a 'pill' weighs less than a gram, there are 464 grams in a pound; so, we collected 40-pounds of mediationsthat's a lot of 'pills'.

Thanks to everyone and we will maintain collection sites at city hall and the Cibola County sheriff's office for the foreseeable future.

Sincerely, Robert Hays Fire Chief-Grants
