Public Servants

Dear editor, Election time is always filled with some measure of crazy talk. The craziest thing I have heard has come to me by concerned citizens that like Cibola County's Manager Kate Fletcher. They have heard talk that the County Manager needs to be 'controlled' by the County Commissioners. I have never heard such a ridiculous and ignorant statement in my life. The New Mexico County Commissioner Handbook says that the Commission hires a manager to handle the dayto- day operations of the County, under the direction of the County Commission.

The same pattern is found for Municipalities and Villages. There is great wisdom in this. As a County Commission, we interviewed twenty candidates and unanimously chose Kate Fletcher to Manage the day-to-day operations of the County. We hired her because she was the most qualified! There is no controlling! We work together to make our Cibola County the best County in New Mexico! The Cibola County Commission is always aware of what is going on because we work closely with the Manager! County Commissioners are not dictators, we are public servants that do the work of the people. We follow the law and we get things done.

Robert S. Windhorst, Cibola County Commissioner, District 4

Coffee With the Managers

Dear Editor, This is a reminder that this Thursday’s Coffee with The Managers meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. at the golf course instead of the former 8 o'clock. We do not follow Robert's Rules of Order. It's a great way to have input on City issues and to get information about our community. The laughs are always appreciated too.
